Rick Smolan

Smolan got an early start on life and an early start on photography. At the age of fourteen, he was already wandering the streets of new york with a camera in hand. His free-spirit style and huge dedication and yearn to be a photographer landed him in the graces of huge magazines, and huge jobs. When he was young his will landed him a job with Time magazine as the youth photographer of the year. He traveled the entire continent of South America with his history teacher at the time, and photographed anything he could. Time magazine couldn’t believe what he was doing, and his will to shoot anything and enthusiasm for his job landed him a trip to Australia to spend a week photographing the Prime Minister. Smolan continued traveling the world landing the crazy the jobs that no one else dared to take. His enthusiasm and dedication to what he does and loves was very inspirational to watch. It definitely motivated me to want to go out and take a lot of pictures, and get hired to do a job that no one else wants to do, and blow them away with the results.
